World War II
The Fascist Italy, under Benito Mussolini, attacked Abyssinia (now Ethiopia) in 1935, aiming to colonize. The invasion was condemned by the League of Nations, but little was done to stop it or to liberate occupied Ethiopia.
On August 3, 1940, Italian troops, including units colonial Somalis crossed from Ethiopia to invade Somalia and British on August 14 achieved in the adoption of Berbera of the British.
A British force, including Somali troops, launched a campaign in January 1941 from Kenya to liberate occupied British Somaliland and Italian Somaliland and Ethiopia-conquering Italian. In February, the majority of Italian Somaliland and was captured in March, British Somaliland was recovered from the sea. The British Empire forces operating in Somaliland comprises three divisions of South Africa, Africa and Eastern Western troops. They were assisted by the Somali forces led by Abdullahi Hassan with the Somali Isaaq, Dhulbahante, and Warsangali clans.
